Jim Bergmann

He is one of the original owners of TruTech Tools. He was also a director of new product development at Redfish Instruments, Inc., and president of measureQuick®. From early days, he focused on technician education. Jim spent 12 years teaching HVAC skills for the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in Brecksville, OH.
He has a deep background in HVAC, working as a technical specialist at Testo, Inc., and as a commercial HVACR service technician. In his spare time, Jim even designed and developed the first “Smart Manifold.”
Today, he spends time creating educational content, including videos (watch on YouTube). And whether it’s the projects he works on with measureQuick or the content he writes, podcasts, or YouTube videos he produces, Jim is all about replacing opinion with proof when it comes to HVAC system performance.
“The idea is to provide technicians with a simple, repeatable way to measure what matters. THis includes ways to validate performance and explain value in a way customers understand,” Jim says on his LinkedIn profile.
More Than Awards
In 2025, National Comfort Institute’s (NCI) High-Performance HVAC™ Summit recognized Jim with their Spirit of Excellence Award. This award recognizes HVAC Industry professionals who serve to raise the bar for the industry AND its customers. It’s for those who aspire to excellence in the products or services they bring to the industry, and much more.
During that award presentation, NCI CEO Dominick Guarino said, “Jim has taken HVAC diagnostic software to a whole new level, integrating his application with many digital diagnostic tools. By seamlessly integrating instruments and software for fast and accurate diagnostics, as well as high-quality commissioning, Jim is helping HVAC contractors spread excellence to their customers while promoting the ideals of testing versus guessing.”
Bryan Orr of HVAC School says, “Jim is one of the most giving and helpful people in the HVACR Industry. I’ve learned so much from him in a relatively short time.
“Jim has spent his career creating and sustaining a vision and long-term goals for each job, project, or product he has worked on. Team building, passion, relentless will, and a unique set of life experiences have been the key to achieving Jim’s goals and to inspiring smart people to do fantastic things. His LinkedIn motto is Fixing the broken HVAC industry 1000’s of techs at a time!“
Communications are Key
While having a vision and long-term goals are important, communicating both is really his core competency. The ability to work with anyone from the field technician to the professional engineer, and to communicate with each at their most intimate level, has enabled him and the teams he’s led to achieve great things. Jim’s work as a technician, instructor, company owner, salesperson, technical writer, and design engineer has given him a depth and breadth of insights unique to the HVACR industry.
For these and many more reasons, the team at NCI and at High-Performance HVAC Today welcome Jim Bergmann to the Class of 2026 High-Performance HVAC Industry Influencers.
