John Ellis
John Ellis brings more than four decades of hands-on HVAC experience to the industry. His career is rooted in doing the work, solving complex problems, and helping others get better along the way. Based in Las Vegas, New Mexico, his background spans union service, large-scale commercial projects, and leadership roles that require both technical precision and real-world accountability.

His company, Dynamic Air Consulting, specializes in high‑level Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) diagnostics and field coaching. He previously owned and operated SoCal Air Dynamics, a High-Performance HVAC contracting firm focused on healthy indoor environments for medically vulnerable clients.
Over the years, John has managed demanding projects including hotels, prisons, water treatment plants, and hospitals — environments where performance, reliability, and documentation are non‑negotiable. Those experiences shaped his belief that systems must be designed, installed, and verified to deliver what they promise, not just on paper, but in the field.
Industry Involvement
He also came to understand the vital importance of building science, High-Performance HVAC contracting, and IAQ. In fact, he has earned multiple certifications throughout his career, including credentials in building science and IAQ, EPA-certified renovator status, and Level 1 thermography.
Just as important, he remained actively involved in the industry through organizations such as the National Comfort Institute (NCI), the Institute of Heating & Air Conditioning Industries (IHACI), and the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA). Continuous learning and participation are core to how he approaches the trade.
In June 2023, John joined The New Flat Rate as Business Development Manager after previously working with the company as a consultant. In that role, he focused on helping contractors strengthen their businesses by aligning pricing, process, and value — giving them practical tools they can apply immediately in the field and in the office.
Industry Educator
John Ellis is widely recognized in the industry as an educator first. His extensive teaching and instructional responsibilities focus on IAQ principles and best practices to contractors across North America. His influence reaches the HVAC Industry also through his social media, podcasts, and streaming offerings. Among his industry outreach, he has the following under his belt:
- HVAC Know It All Podcast
- HVAC ADHD Vodcast
- Building HVAC Science Podcast
- HVAC School training content.
Many refer to him as “Mr. IAQ” due to his sustained focus on indoor air quality and building science education.
John’s influence comes from experience, integrity, and a commitment to doing the work the right way. That dedication to measurable performance, education, and long-term improvement is why he was selected as a High‑Performance HVAC™ Influencer, Class of 2026.
