The GRIT Foundation has announced GRIT Workshops, a new way to bring hands-on skilled trades education to more communities. These flexible sessions deliver meaningful learning while maintaining the discussion-based, hands-on approach the organization values.

Led by Ty Branaman, GRIT Workshops combine discussion, movement, and energy. The idea is to help participants better understand the skilled trades and their impact. By meeting learners where they are, these workshops create an engaging environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and active participation.

The program currently offers three workshop sessions:

GRIT Workshops are a featured "product" during the 2026 NCI Summit in Tennessee
  1. Mentorship That Works: Bridging Generations Through Curiosity. This program focuses on young adults, tradespeople, and community members. The focus is on those interested in learning how to effectively pass down their skills. It focuses on teaching methods, engaging learners, and developing leadership.
  2. The House as a System: Building Science Explorer. Designed for middle school through adult learners and explores how different trades intersect through a systems-based approach.
  3. Making the Invisible Visible: Science That Powers the Trades. Aimed at middle and high school students, offering a hands-on introduction to the science behind everyday work in the trades.

GRIT Workshops can be hosted by schools, contractors, wholesalers, manufacturers, training centers, and community organizations with classroom or training space. Each workshop creates an opportunity for meaningful conversation and practical learning about the future of the trades.
