Evergreen Telemetry CH-8D Low Flow Capture Hood

Don’t let the size fool you, the CH-8D low flow capture hood from Evergreen Telemetry stands proudly at just 19¼-in. tall with a footprint of only 14 x 14-in. Evergreen built this pint-sized powerhouse for serious airflow work. It’s the kind of gear that makes you wonder why lug around a giant hood if you don’t have to.

Despite its size, the CH-8D is no slouch. It measures airflow from five to 150 cfm, making it perfect for many registers that fall within that range. I used this instrument to test airflow in my own home. I found that it slid easily under desks and tables, sneaks around furniture, and got the job done all single-handedly. Try doing that with a bulky, full-size hood.
The clear skirting and carbon fiber base give it both durability and precision. You’ll know you’ve got a solid seal over the register because you can feel it. That ensures accurate readings every time.
The kit includes two hood skirts: a 14 x 14 x 12-in. model and a 24-in. model. It also includes a two to four-foot extension pole and a rugged carrying case that keeps everything tidy and protected.
The company sells their Pressure Velocity Flow (PVF) module and wrist reporter separately, but here’s the best part: they’re fully compatible with other Evergreen instruments, giving you flexibility to build out your setup.
It is priced right alongside the other big names in the flow hood industry and is worth every penny if you regularly measure system airflow or perform air balancing. The CH-8D is a serious tool for pros who appreciate portability, precision, and performance.
The Evergreen Telemetry team is a sponsor of the 2025 NCI Summit event in Austin, TX, from September 9-12th. If you attend, be sure to stop by booth six and say hello.
