National Comfort Institute, Inc. (NCI) and High-Performance HVAC Today magazine announce the 2018 HVAC Photo of the Year! After a tremendous turnout by nearly 100 voters, this year’s winner beat out 10 other entries and received 68% of the votes!
As a reminder, there are three image categories for photos. These include:
- The Good. These images reflect some of the better HVAC installations/retrofits and highlight prime work by Performance-Based Contractors’ in the HVAC Industry
- The Bad. Often service technicians will walk into situations where they have to “pick up the pieces” of an installation or service retrofit that has gone wrong. These images are examples of what not to do, but also represent opportunities for Performance-Based Contractors across the country.
- The “What-the-Heck?” These images often defy explanation. They depict hack-jobs that represent the absolute worse when it comes to HVAC service and installations. In fact, the solution is often to simply start over.
In addition to being featured in the January digital issue of the magazine, the winner is also featured on the – HVACToday.com website and on PerformanceTalk.
Furthermore, the Photo of the Year Winner receives the Grand Prize: a FREE registration to National Comfort Institute’s High Performance Summit (Up to $795 in value), Orlando, FL, April 15-18, 2019.
And so, without further ado, THE WINNER IS:
Nate Miller, Campbell and Company, Yakima, WA.
Nate’s entry appeared in the October 2018 issue and was titled, ‘Drop Cheek 90 into Split Zone System.’

In his entry, Nate wrote, ‘Beautiful in-house fabricated 90’s on all sides for tremendous airflow. This Lennox iHarmony zone system travels from the basement, up two floors to the attic, providing great airflow on all three levels of the home.
This is one of the few entries all year in the “Good” Category.
