We can’t let looser rules lead to lower standards. We must hold the line as an industry, as professionals committed to doing the job right.
Domestic Manufacturing: A Long-Term Opportunity?
Another potential upside of the tariff strategy is its push for domestic manufacturing. I get the theory — if importing parts becomes more expensive, maybe we’ll see more U.S.-based production. That could mean more jobs and better control over supply chains in the long run.
During these first 150-plus days, that theory hasn’t materialized yet. What has materialized are price hikes, not factory groundbreakings. It’s a long game, I get it. But it has the HVAC and other trades in a tough spot in the short term.
Stay Nimble

If I took anything away from Trump’s first 155-plus days in office, it’s this: adaptability is now a more important core business skill tan ever before.
Yes, the political landscape can throw us curve balls. Rebates come and go. Tariffs rise and fall. But customers still need comfort, efficiency, and performance. And your teams still need leadership.
So the key is to adapt by shifting strategies. Perhaps that means restructuring pricing models and offering more flexible financing options. Many contractors got good at sourcing smarter during the pandemic. That needs to continue. And most importantly, now is the time to double down on educating your team AND your clients, especially in the science of High-Performance HVAC contracting.
Today’s Word
The early second Trump era is a reminder that in HVAC, as in life, the winds of change can be sudden and intense.
However, as an industry, if we stay grounded in our values — delivering measurable performance, prioritizing education, and investing in our people — we can navigate any storm.
I don’t know what the future will bring, but I do know this: High-Performance HVAC is not just a technical standard — it’s a mindset. And that mindset is what will keep our businesses strong, regardless of who is in the White House.
