We were searching for some photos showing where to test pump operating pressures and that would show what Pete’s Plugs looked like. Kevin Heikkila of Integrity Test and Balance of Traverse City, Michigan captured both subjects in one picture. Kevin is an ace NBC water balancer.

Notice the two brass fittings to the right and left of the pump. Remove the caps of these Pete’s Plugs and a needle or thermometer can be inserted directly into the water stream to measure pressures or the temperature of the system. The pump discharge pressure minus the pump inlet pressure provides the pump operating pressure.
